No One’s House

Home/No One’s House

No One’s House is a parent-to-parent campaign that works to reduce the amount of parents in a community who are providing teens with alcohol and or allowing teens to drink in their homes. By pledging, you agree that you will not provide teens alcohol and will not willingly allow teens to drink alcohol at your home.

Parents, Did You Know?

  • It is illegal to provide anyone, even your own child, alcohol if they are under the age of 21.

  • If you are caught providing alcohol to minors you face fines and jail time.

  • You may be held liable for any injures or damages caused by providing a minor with alcohol- no matter where that occurs.

  • The teen brain is developing until the age of 25 and alcohol can damage that developing brain.

  • Research shows that underage drinking has a series of negative consequences including reduced school performance, crime, injuries, risky sexual situations, motor vehicle crashes, and large economic impacts.

  • In 2014 in Monroe County, one quarter (26%) of middle and high school students reported past 30-day use.

Monroe County Coalition & No One’s House Campaign

Our No One’s House campaign focuses on addressing a serious problem in communities throughout the Florida Keys: adults are allowing young people to consume alcohol in their homes. When asked on the Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey where youth who report alcohol use usually drink, the location most commonly cited by Monroe County students was somebody else’s house. This often occurs with the knowledge and consent of an adult, but without the knowledge or consent of the parents of some of the young people who may be drinking there. For any parents who do not want their children drinking alcohol, this presents quite a problem.

The No One’s House campaign focuses on getting the word out that knowingly permitting anybody under the age of 21 to drink in your home is illegal, as is providing alcohol to anybody under the age of 21. We also want parents to know that these are not victimless crimes, that the Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for these kinds of violations, and that the District Attorney will aggressively pursue charges against parents who knowingly allow minors to drink in their homes. We also encourage parents to know where their children are, to know their children’s friends, and to know those friends’ parents.

Help us spread the work, talk to other parents.  Let them know you are not ok with your teen drinking, even with adult supervision.

Help us keep alcohol out of the hands of teens.
